New York institution The Oak Room (10 Central Park South, 212.758.7777 www.oakroomny.com) is running a drink special to coincide with Netflix’s September 29th Central Park event celebrating the 70th Anniversary of MGM’s classic film The Wizard of Oz. Inspired by the four central themes within the movie (Home, Heart, Brains and Courage), head bartender Orlando Rivera has crafted a delightfully whimsical and potent collection of shots as playfully imaginative as Dorothy herself. The set ($25) includes a watermelon and yuzu martini (Heart), a courageously spicy jalapeno infused tequila, the aptly-named Mind Eraser (Brains) – a mixture of equal parts vodka, Kahlua and tonic water - and a peanut butter and jelly shot (vodka, Chambord and Amaretto) for a taste of Home.
Beginning at 7:30pm on the 29th, the Netflix event will kick off with a concert led by Grammy Award winners Jennifer Hudson and ?uestlove, as well as Dancing With The Stars’ Julianne Hough singing songs from the movie, followed by a free screening of the film on a giant inflatable screen.
